Bhatkal 23 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) In November 2017, Bhatkallys.com filed an application to the Town Muncipal Council (TMC) seeking the repair of the broken humps on Aminuddin Road of Nawayath colony locality here, citing distraction and sense of panic for the senior citizens riding two wheeler. Despite several reminders and follow-up attempts the issue has not drawn the attention of the administration and no action plan or repair works have been proposed yet by the TMC. A visit to Aminuddin Road in Bhatkal’s Nawayath Colony presents the issue on a larger scale – with all speed bumps missing a section. Cutting through gaps and speeding on internal roads has caused hundreds of accidents in Bhatkal. Most speed bumps fail to stop speeding motor bikes or three-wheelers as gaps and missing sections allow reckless driving. Initially, the TMC had sought a formal written complaint to initiate action on the matter citing they never received any such complaints by the residents and ward Councillors, following which Bhatkallys.com had submitted an formal written complaint to the TMC in November 2017, which took over two months to be presented in the monthly general meeting and was presented in January 2018 meeting, wherein it was put on hold by the TMC to consider the legal process of repairing the humps. Bhatkallys.com had to make constant efforts of follow up before being assured of taking the issue up in the June meeting again. Post June meeting Bhatkallys.com was informed that the issue was not taken up due to the absence of ward Councillor in the meeting. TMC Chief Officer Venaktesh Navadu remain firm on his statement, that once the issue is passed in the meeting, he will give the nod to the repair works, and will initiate is immediately. TMC ward Councillor of Aminuddin road remained unavailable for for the comment despite several attempts by Bhatkallys.com Meanwhile by this time a new issue has popped up for the people of Aminuddin road ward as the street lights near Masjid-e-Ayesha are not working, making the case worst for the commuter, it is a 'accident waiting to happen' situation on Aminuddin road and it will be interesting to see when the administration will stop turning blind eyes to such important issues and will resolve it on priorities in the best of interest of tax payers of the wards.
