Bhatkal 17 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bowing down to the mounting pressure by three sports club affiliated to Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation (BMYF), the body's sports secretary and convener of the upcoming mega event Bhatkal Cricket League (BCL), Sami Madikal resigned from both the posts he held, earlier this week.
Royal Sports Centre, Al-Hilal Association and Azad Nagar Friends Association (ANFA) had earlier written to BMYF, demanding immediate resignation/ sacking of Sami Madikal and other members of BMYF who were banned of membership by Bhatkal's socio-political organisation Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem following some of their acts after 2018 Karnataka Assembly Elections, wherein a group of people allegedly forced some of the office bearers of Tanzeem to resign.
The three sports club had demanded resignation of all the banned members from the BMYF, citing that BMYF is bound to comply with Tanzeem's decision, failure to which the sports club had threatened to withdraw their players from playing in BCL.
Bowing down to this pressure, Sami earlier submitted his resignation from both the posts, and said that he did not wanted the BCL to be delayed or cancelled so I resigned. Along with Sami another member of BMYF who has been banned by Tanzeem Mustafa, also resigned from the membership of BMYF.
Reports of another member Kola Ateeq, resigning from the body too emerged on local social media circle, which the Bhatkallys.com sources later confirmed were rumors and were not true.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com over phone call, Sami added "I was disturbed with the way I was pressurized and I did not wanted to be a hurdle for BCL to commence, though I was elected unanimously as the convener of BCL, and the objections came later. I along with Sajjad Kola, brought in the concept of BCL in Bhatkal, we both started this, I am saddened with the way I have been treated in something that I myself started".
A top-official of BMYF confirmed to Bhatkallys.com that the body had not sought resignation of any of the individual and that it was their personal decision. "We did not ask anyone to resign neither we took any official stand in the matter, the resignations was the personal decisions of the individuals" the source added on condition of anonymity.
