Book launched in memory of Dr S.M Syed Khalil at Bhatkal Rabita Award

Bhatkal, July 24: A special tribute was paid to late NRI businessman and community leader Dr. S.M. Syed Khalilur Rahman during the second session of the Rabita Educational Excellence Awards 2025 held in Bhatkal. A compilation book containing condolence and tribute letters received after his passing was formally released at the event.
The book was unveiled by Karnataka Minister and Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya in the presence of prominent leaders and guests. The newly appointed Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada, Deepan M.N., also attended the ceremony, along with several senior members from leading local organisations.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman, a founding figure behind the Bhatkal Muslim Khaleej Council (Rabita Society), was remembered for his decades-long contribution to education and social development. Based in the Gulf for many years, he worked tirelessly to bring the diaspora together for the betterment of Bhatkal and surrounding areas. His leadership and dedication helped build Rabita Society into a respected institution that continues to promote academic excellence.
Known not only for his success in business abroad but also for his selfless service to the community back home, Dr. Rahman was a guiding force behind initiatives like the Rabita Awards, which honour meritorious students every year.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Yunus Kazia, President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Bhatkal; Inayatullah Shabandri, President of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal; Farooq Musba, President of BMKC; Aftab Kola, President of Indian Nawayath Forum; Dr. Ateequr Rahman Muniri, General Secretary of BMKC; NRI businessman Qamar Sada; and Altaf Kharuri, President of Bhatkal Town Municipal Council, among others.
The released book is a record of heartfelt messages sent from across the world, expressing grief and appreciation for Dr. Rahman’s life and legacy.
The second session of the awards ceremony also saw several students being honoured for their academic achievements in various fields.
