Bomb threat email sent to Bhatkal Police Station: Security tightened, bomb squad conducts search

Karwar, July 10: A bomb threat email claiming that Bhatkal town will be bombed within 24 hours was sent twice to the Bhatkal Town Police Station, triggering a high alert across the region.
The threat was reportedly sent by an individual using the name Kannan Guruswamy from the email ID kannnannandik@gmail.com to the official police email bhatkaltownkwr@ksp.gov.in at 7:22 AM on July 10. The first email read, "We will plant bomb in Bhatkal town", followed shortly by a second message saying, "All the bombs will blast in 24 hours."
Acting on the development, PSI Naveen of Bhatkal Town Police Station filed a suo motu complaint. In response to the threat, the District Bomb Disposal Squad and sniffer dogs were deployed to carry out intensive checks at key public locations like bus stands, railway stations, and other crowded areas across Bhatkal. Drone surveillance was also used for aerial monitoring as part of the precautionary measures.
This is the first time such a direct bomb threat has been received targeting Bhatkal, prompting authorities to be on high alert. Police have taken the matter seriously and have launched a detailed investigation.
Uttara Kannada SP M. Narayan has reached Bhatkal to oversee the operations, and further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
