BMJD's Medical Committee conducts Health Check-up Camp

Dubai - The Medical committee of Bhatkal Muslim Jamaath Dubai (BMJD) held its first Free Health Check-up camp in Dubai on the 8th of June 2012. This unprecedented and first of its kind initiative from any of the Bhatkal Jamaaths was a huge success with 83 members of the Jamaath benefitting from it. The event was conducted in Al-Ras area between 9:30 AM and 12:00 Noon in Flat 209 (Al-Khateeb) of Al-Ras building which is the residence of Mr. Abdul Mateen Khateeb.

The event was well organized and systematically carried out. The members were intimated through word of mouth as well as our community's electronic media about the event and its details. The members were instructed that an appointment is required for participation. The time for procuring the same was also mentioned. In order to ensure that the most deserving members benefit from the initiative, members aged 40 years and above were given preference. Moreover, the participants were instructed to come fasting for the check-up. Around 60 members took appointment during the stipulated time. An additional 23 members who turned up without appointments were also accommodated.

The event was started by the recitation of the Holy Quran and a few encouraging and inspiring opening words by Mr. Abdul Kadir Basha Ruknuddin, the president of BMJD who mentioned that service to the community is service to God and will be considered as worship. He also mentioned that this service will be resulting in immense good deeds (sawab) for all who put in their valuable time and efforts.

One of the key reasons due to which the event was smoothly conducted was the appointment system as well as the participants who appeared at their stipulated time which ensured exceptional discipline and proper crowd management. Keeping in mind that most of the attendees were fasting, they were served with sumptuous snacks after the tests. The attendees were also provided with the opportunity to consult the two doctors participating in the event, Dr. Mohammed Anas Mohtisham, M.D, S/O Mr. Sabir Mohtisham, Physician Rashid hospital, Dubai and Convener, BMJD Medical Committee, and Dr. Dawood Kazia M.D, S/O Dr. Ismail Kazia, who has recently completed his M.D and aspires to continue his medical studies with a super specialization (D.M) in Gastroenterology. It is indeed commendable to note that Dr. Dawood got a unique opportunity to serve his community in the very beginning of his Medical practice which will surely bring him many blessings and duas for his successful further studies as well as a flourishing career in medicine.

Most importantly it needs to be mentioned that the entire infrastructure (equipment) as well as medical staff for conducting the event were provided by Dr. Ismail Kazia in service of the community. Moreover, the esteemed Doctor was himself available during the entire event to oversee and ensure that everything went on smoothly. Mr. Rahmathullah Rahi, General Secretary, BMJD and Mr. Amjad Shabandari, Vice President- BMJD, were also present during the entire proceedings and actively participated in effectively conducting the event.

Many of the participants provided constructive feedback regarding the camp. All of them were of the unanimous opinion that the event was an extremely good initiative from the Medical Committee of BMJD and should be repeated on a regular basis so that maximum members will benefit from it. Many of the participants also suggested that the next camp should be enhanced with inclusion of Cholesterol check also.

After the phenomenal success of this first initiative, the medical committee of BMJD aspires to conduct the same camp on a regular basis as well as other awareness and educating programs regarding health and issues related to health. Professional doctors will be arranged who will conduct these sessions and educate the members of BMJD regarding healthy lifestyle, common health related problems faced by the members of BMJD and measures to proactively reduce health related problems.

It needs to be mentioned that many executive and other members of BMJD participated as volunteers in the event and provided commendable service in ensuring the success of the entire event.

The Convener (Dr. Anas Mohtisham), Vice-Conevener (Mr. K. M Mohammed Sameer Kokari) of the Medical committee, the President of BMJD (Mr. Abdul Kadir Basha Ruknuddin) and the General Secretary of BMJD (Mr. Rahmathullah Rahi) wish to whole heartedly thank each and every individual who participated in the conducting of this event and contributed to its success. Special thanks to Dr. Ismail Kazia for providing the equipment and medical staff, to Dr. Anas Mohtisham and Dr. Dawood Kazia for their valuable services as Consultant Physicians, to Mr. Abdul Mateen Khateeb and other residents of Al-Khateeb who provided their home for this wonderful event, to all volunteers from the members of the medical committee, the executive committee and other members of BMJD who provided their valuable time and efforts in ensuring that the event was a huge success.
