BJP MLA from Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh Vikram Saini has refused to apologise for this controversial statement about punishing those showing disrespect to cows and Vande Mataram. Speaking to India Today TV, Saini refused to apologise or express regret for his statement in which he threatened to 'break limbs of cow killers' in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP MLA Vikram Saini sparked off controversy saying, "I will break the hand and legs of the people who disrespect and kill cows." Saini also 'promised' not to spare those who 'refuse to sing Vande Mataram'. Defending his statements, Saini told India Today TV that he had done 'no wrong'. He went on to say that he was being questioned because he spoke the 'language of a villager' "I speak the language of a villager. I said nothing wrong. Should I worship those who kill cows and rape our sisters," said the unapologetic BJP leader. Saini made the controversial statement on Saturday during an event in Muzaffarnagar. This is not the first time that Vikram Saini has triggered a controversy. He was accused of making inflammatory speech during the Muzaffarnagar riot. He was booked and arrested for his hateful speech. His latest remark has come at a time when a new government has been formed in Uttar Pradesh under Yogi Adityanath, who has promised to put a complete ban on cow slaughter and shut down all the illegal slaughterhouses in the state.
