'BJP is not communal and against Muslims' - Mumtaz Ali Khan

Bhatkal - 05 May 2011: 'BJP is not against Islam and Muslims, Yeddiyurappa Govt has released crores of funds for the welfare of Muslims. Now the days were gone when Muslims were seen with suspicion, today I am very happy to see that, Muslims are taking active part in the development activities in India.' These were the views expressed by Prof Mumtaz Ali Khan, minister of Minority welfare, Hajj and Wakf, Govt of Karnataka in an interaction program held here at Bhatkal with the representatives of minority organizations including Tanzeem and Rabita Society. He praised Nawayath community for their peace loving nature and said, 'Bhatkal is a peaceful town, due to some misunderstanding in the media, Bhatkal is projected as a terrorist hub which is baseless and it is a plot to malign Nawayath community.' 'If one or two persons are involved in terror activities then it is not fair to blame whole community.' He added.

Highlighting several Govt schemes announced by the state Govt for minorities, He said that students who are interested in pursuing IAS / IPS for them our Govt is providing financial assistance upto 1 lakh rupees towards coaching and if he needs coaching abroad then he will get upto 3 crore rupees. He said.

On this occasion he also listened the public grievances regarding passport etc and assured them to solve these problems.
