BJP fails to prove majority in Karnataka; Yeddiyurappa resigns as CM of the state

Bangalore 19 May 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday failed to prove its majority after claiming stakes to form the government in Karnataka, following which CM Yeddiyurappa resigned from the post.
Earlier on Friday after late-night proceedings Supreme Court of India had ordered BJP to prove their majority in the floor test on Saturday following which the BJP had sought more time to prove majority, the request was eventually laid down by the apex court.
Yeddiyurappa after resigning from the post has become one of the shortest CM to serve the office in the history of India, while spending just two days at the office. He was invited to form the government and administered the oath by Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vala, the decision triggered nation-wide protest by Congress who condemned the decision and knocked the doors of Supreme Court.
Congress with 78 seats and JD(s) with 38 seats are expected to form a coalition government and are expected to be invited to prove the majority on Monday by the governor.
