Bike lifters spray pepper spray on cops in escape bid

Bengaluru: Pepper spray is one of the biggest weapons recommended for self-protection, however, this has been misused by many. In one such incidents, two bike thieves sprayed pepper spray on Bellanduru police when they tried to detain the duo. According to the police, Manjunatha Patil and Raghavendra Patil, residents of Junnagud in Belagavi is the arrested duo. During wee hours on Sunday, the police saw the two riding a bike near Kasavanahalli road. As the police developed suspicion, they stopped their bike and instantly, the duo tried to flee. When police constables Ramappa and Hanumantappa chased them, one of them brandished a knife while another sprayed pepper spray on both the constables. But the police constables who were wearing glasses arrested them. During questioning, the duo said that they had come to Bengaluru in search of job three months ago. They started to lift bikes as they could not find a job in the city. Police seized three bikes from them. Source: News Karnataka
