Big catch: Mangaluru police bust 1300 loads of illegally stored sand; accused absconding

Zaorez Shabab Mangaluru 18 Nov 2017: A joint operation of raid by Prominent Geologist and Bajpe Police officials has led to the recovery 1,300 loads of illegally stored sand near Adyapadi dam at Bajpe locality of Mangaluru. Jeevan Pereira, on whose land the sand was allegedly stored is reported absconding, and a police team is working to track him down. Police officials have taken the custody of the sand and is now guarded by the Bajpe police officials. The raid was conducted based on a complaint filed by Niranja, a prominent Geologist of the city. A case under Cr No. 280/17 u/s 3, 36, 42 and 44 of Karnataka Mines and Minerals Concession Rules 1994 (KMMCR) and sec. 4,4(IA), 21(4), (4A) of Mines and Minerals (D&R) Act 1957 revised section 379 IPC has been registered against Jeevan Pereira.
