Bhatkallys.com wins Bhatkal Premier League

Dubai - Bhatkallys.com emerged winners in the finals of the first Bhatkal Premier League as they trumped Marhaba Champs at the Zabeel Park on Friday.

Batting first,Bhatkallys Sailors scored 184 in their allotted 20 overs (Anas Mulla 44 runs, Sarfaraz 38 runs, Ubada 35 runs).

Opening batsmen Zia Qazi and Sarfaraz Jukaku provided a solid opening stand of 50 to set the foundation for a solid innings. The team continued its good run in the tournament as captain Anas Mulla and Obada Barmawar continued with their stellar batting form to set a target of 185 for Marhaba Champs.

Batting under lights, the target was not an easy one as Nasrullah and Nashit Barmawar set the scorecard ticking with a quick stand. A good all-round bowling performance from the Bhatkallys.com team sent the Marhaba Champs back to the pavillion as the team were bundled out before the end of 20 overs.Anas Mulla was adjudged Man-of-the match for his all round batting and bowling performances.

He also congratulated the governing council of Bhatkal Premier League on the occasion. S.M. Sufiyan from Amtek Tigers received a special cricket bat for scoring the maximum number of sixes in the tournament, with a whopping 19 sixes to his credit.

Nasrullah from Marhaba Champs was adjudged the player of the tournament as the team was also awarded the fair play award.

Shafaat Shabandri, Manager, Bhatkallys Sailors said, "Team spirit, fair play and self confidence contributed to our team's win in the tournament. We had our eyes set on the trophy since the beginning and we are happy to take it home with us."

Khalifa Mohammed Ghouse and S.M. Syed Khalil also expressed their thoughts in the closing ceremony which was hosted by Khateeb Imran.

Six Bhatkalli teams participated in the tournament which was hosted in Ajman and Dubai. More details and photos to follow.
