Bhatkalis in Oman support VISION 2016 project

OMAN, Feb 13,2011 (Bhatkallys News): A very ambitious project, VISION 2016 which contributes to the holistic welfare of Muslims, has attracted a section of people from Bhatkal who participated with full zeal at the Human Welfare Trust (Vision 2016) initiative of adopting a poor Muslim village in Uttar Pradesh that was launched in Muscat on Thursday.
Some top Muslims based in Oman, including Galfar Mohammed Ali, Yusuf Nalwala, Ameer Ahmed, CM Najeeb and Aftab Kola, wisely decided to be a part of this noble initiative whose chairman is Sayid Hamid, former vice-chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University.
An impoverished village by the name Milak under the Panchayat Pallapura, district Muradabad in Uttar Pradesh will be adopted by Muscat chapter of HWT with immediate effect.
At a function held at the Platinum Hotel in Al Khuwair, Dr P. Mohammed Ali Galfar, managing director of Galfar LLC, and also vice-president of VISION 2016, congratulated the Muscat Chapter of Vision 2016 for taking up to adopt a poor village of Milak in Uttar Pradesh. S. M. Syed Khalil, group executive director, I & M Galadari, Dubai, said that we all should support this noble initiative and added that such efforts can go a long way to uplift the Muslims of India. He said, 'Bhatkal with about 50,000 Muslim population can be a role model as such a small community is home to Anjuman which runs more than 20 institutes, including an engineering college of repute and a management college and Jamia Islamia.' He said Islam shows us the right way in how to deal with educating and uplifting Muslims. Siddique Hasan saheb, general secretary of HWT, New Delhi, said 'The Sachar Committee, which studied the social, economic and educational status of Muslims, cut a very sorry figure stating that Muslims were falling out of the growth paths in every aspect of life. HWT had to pitch in more concrete action plan with a long-term strategy. And thus the VISION 2016 was born. VISION 2016 will contribute to the holistic welfare of Muslims.
Yusuf Nalwala, chairman, HWT-Muscat Chapter, (joint-managing director of Al Ansari LLC, Oman) presided over the function. Aftab Husain Kola, key member of HWT-Muscat Chapter, compered the programme. Among the Bhatkalis present included Dr Owais Ruknuddin, Mohammedbapu Basha Ruknuddin and S. M. Syed Shakeel, among others.
The HWT Muscat chapter has drawn up an action plan to address a range of developmental work through a 2-year period.
