Bhatkal wins national football championship; BIFA stars create history

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Wafa Kifa Aurangabad March 05 2018: Bhatkal Inter Football Association (BIFA) emerged triumphant  while representing Karnataka State, in the All India Senior National Football 7 Championship that was being played at Aurangabad. The team was playing against Maharashtra State team in a nail biting tournament final where they successfully defeated Maharashtra by a close margin of 1-0. BIFA remained unbeaten throughout the tournament while lifting the trophy on Monday. Led by Zuhair Armar and managed by Mawiya Mohtesham, BIFA team consisted players from across the state while the majority of the team was formed by players of Bhatkal, Mohammed Zuhair, Mohammed Kumail, Nadeed Kadli, Ibrahim Afzan Jabali, Mohammed Tabish Gawai. The team kept the early winning momentum throughout the tournament and defeated Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chandigarh and Bangalore on its way to the historic tournament win. The win has now opened the door for wider opportunities for the players as they will now showcase their skills at the international version of the tournament which will be played in Dubai and Chile, South America in April this year.
