Bhatkal: Villagers protest District Administration's decision of constructing dump yard

Bhatkal 31 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The decision of District administration to turn a plot into a dump yard for waste management and disposal at Bengre Panchayath limits, received a blow when a residents of Bengre gathered outside Gram Panchayath office to protest against the decision, demanding immediate withdrawal of sanctioned resolution on Monday, 30 July. As soon as the locals were informed about the decision and the blue prints of the construction of dump yard, people called emergency meeting with the Panchayath officials and condemned the decision. "There are 100's of acres of land around the place where dump yard can be constructed, and the stink of the disposals will create various disorder and diseases to people who reside around the place"- the protesters urged, The locals also submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner's office addressing to the District administration regarding the issue. Bengre Gram Panchayat President Venkaiyya Bairumane, vice president Manjunath Moger, Taluk Panchayat member Vishnu Devadiga, Gram Panchayat member Ganapati Bairumane, Ramchandra Naik, Biliya Naik, Sataiya Naik and others were present during the meeting.
