Bhatkal: The Bhatkal unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has announced a ten-day nationwide campaign titled “Neighbourhood Rights Campaign,” scheduled from November 21 to 30. Details were shared by unit president Maulana Syed Zubair S.M. during a press conference held at the Dawat Centre on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, he said the drive is being organised across the country under the theme “Model Neighbourhood, Model Society.” The purpose, he explained, is to remind communities of the importance Islam places on the rights of neighbours and to encourage people to put those values into practice.

Maulana Zubair pointed out that modern lifestyles, increased individualism and weakening social ties have caused neighbourly responsibilities to fade. Small disputes, poor traffic behaviour and lack of cooperation are disturbing social harmony, he said. At such a time, strengthening compassion, harmony and mutual respect has become essential.

During the ten-day campaign, programmes will focus on creating awareness about neighbourly rights and duties, guiding communities on resolving complaints amicably, educating people on good conduct in public spaces, and identifying model neighbourhoods.

In Bhatkal, the campaign will include door-to-door awareness drives, community meetings, mosque-based programmes, youth activities and surveys of model residential areas.

Maulana Zubair said the initiative aims to strengthen unity, harmony and mutual respect in society, while helping the younger generation understand the human values taught in Islam. Office-bearers and volunteers of the organisation were present at the press conference.
