Bhatkal: Truck carrying gas cylinders runs over pedestrian; victim shifted to Manipal hospital

Bhatkal 12 December 2018: A pedestrian sustained severe injuries after a truck carrying gas cylinders ran over him here at Sarpankatta of Bhatkal Taluk on December 11, Tuesday evening. The injured has been identified as Nagaraj Erappa Naik (37) of Belke. As per sources, when Nagaraj was walking beside the road near Sarpankatta, a truck heading towards Karwar rammed over his leg. He was soon rushed to Taluka hospital of Bhatkal in a car from where he was sent to Manipal for further treatment. The police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an initial investigation and seized the truck while also detaining truck driver Nityananda Naik A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural Police station.
