Bhatkal TMC gets full time Cheif Officer after six months

Bhatkal 20 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Town Municipal Council (TMC) on Tuesday finally got a dedicated Chief Officer after more than five months since Aysha Khanum's appointment was quashed by Karnataka High Court, as Devraj took charge as the new Chief Officer of Bhatkal TMC on November 20, 2018.
Devraj took over the charge from Venkatesh Navadu, Environment Engineer of Bhatkal TMC, who was handling the additional charge of Chief Officer since the exit of Aysha Khanum.
Khanum's appointment was quashed in April this year by Karnataka High Court, citing irregularities in the selection process of the 2011 batch officers. After Khanum's exit IAS Probationary officer Anand K had taken the charge temporarily for about 20 days before the administration handed Venkatesh Navadu additional charge of Chief Officer.
Devraj who hails from Turuvekere of Tumkur district is an Karnataka Municipality Service (KMS) officer and was earlier posted in Turuvekere as the Chief Officer there.
Immediately after taking the charge, Vankatesh introduced all the key staffs of the council to the new officer, after which the officer briefed the staff in his chamber.
TMC President Sadiq Matta, Vice President Ashfaq KM, Former Councillor Irshad Ikkeri (Data) and others were present in the TMC Complex during the event.
