Bhatkallys News Bureau Bhatkal 21 September 2017: Town Municipal Council’s (TMC) chief officer Shankarappa has applied for leave citing ‘Injuries’ that he sustained during the stone pelting protests at the TMC office last week after the TMC officials sealed a number of shops which were without proper bond papers. The protests were further intensified after one of the shop owner attempted suicide by setting himself on fire at the TMC complex. Protesters had then tried to vandalize the TMC complex and pelted stones on the building. Shankarappa, who was ‘Missing’ since the day of protests, wrote a letter to the Town Development Department asking for leave, and cited that he had sustained injuries on his body after several stones had allegedly hit him. He further added the doctors had advised him rest post-treatment. TMC President, Sadiq Matta confirmed the reports of the letter being received by the TMC office Bhatkal. Interestingly, Shankarappa has not filed any complaint in connection with the attack and his injuries yet.
