Bhatkal: "Tippu Sultan true patriot" says Moulana Ilyas Nadvi at Tipu Jayanti event

Bhatkal 10 Nov 2017: Moulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, who has made a detailed research and has written books on the life of 18th Century Karnataka ruler Tippu Sultan, while addressing a Tippu Jayanti event organized by Taluka Administration at Rabita Hall said, “Tippu Jayanti was a secular ruler and a patriot of India who was also a very strict follower of his religion Islam. Being pious is no wrong. But today some anti-social elements are trying to divide the people of the country by altering the history of Tipu Sultan by calling him bigot and mass murderer”.
He further added, the people of Bhatkal are the most rightful to celebrate Tippu Sultan as the Mysore ruler had his ancestral roots from Bhatkal while he also married a woman of Bhatkal making him the son-in-law of Bhatkal. He then spoke about his intelligence while speaking of how he managed to understand the strategies of British and used the Nano technology in his defense.
Moulana Ilyas then offered a Rs. 25000 price if the administration organize a Essay Writing competition to non-Muslim students on ‘How Tippu Sultan contributed to the secularism in the state’ so that even non-Muslim students can read about the life of Tippu and the real history of the ruler.
He then added, “People should learn from Tippu Sultan, how to be a true patriot of the country”.
The event was organized at Rabita society hall and began at 9.30 am, and was inaugurated by Zila Panchayath President Jay Shri Moger, who expressed his happiness over the number of people who attended people despite it being a Friday.
Prominent Kannada writer and Poet, Zamirullah Sharief, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Gen. Secy. Altaf Kharuri also addressed the event while TMC President Matta Sadiq delivered the Presidential address.
Assistant Commissioner Manjunath, Jali Patan Panchayath President Abdul Rahim Shaik, TMC Vice President Ashfaq KM, CT Naik and others were also present during the event.
