Bhatkal 17 Aug 2017: Another case of theft was reported in the town on Thursday morning in Nawayath colony area. Theft cases have been on a rise in the town lately with thieves targeting several houses especially those of NRIs who stay out of the country leaving their houses without any security of watchmen.
Thursday’s incident took place in a similar house, as the residents were staying in Gulf, the thieves targeted the house. The house was being looked after by close relative of the owner who first noticed the robbery and informed the police. The relative speaking to the media said he used to inspect the house on odd days and on Thursday while he was inspecting the house he noticed the doors broken and the cupboards broke opened. He also claimed that the house was targeted by thieves earlier as well. Luckily, the owners had not kept any cash, gold or any valuable assets in the house after the first theft case and hence this time the thieves had to leave empty handed.
Bhatkal CPI Suresh Nayak, who is leading the investigation in this case as well as other theft cases of the town advised people who stay in gulf countries to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at their houses which will ease the task of Police department to get hold of the criminals quickly in such cases and will also bring down the rate of the crimes in town.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal town police station and further investigations are underway under the supervision of CPI Suresh Nayak.
