Bhatkal Ter Habba celebrated with traditional fervour

Bhatkal - 12 April 2011: Bhatkal Chinnapattana Hanumanth Devasthan's annual Ter Habba was celebrated today with religious fervour and enthusiasm in which large number of devotees participated. Bhatkal Ter Habba is considered as a supreme example of Hindu-Muslim integration. As a part of this ritual, a delegation led by Surendra Shanbhag and priest of Hanumath temple visited the Chirkin family member Mr Ansar Shabandri's house and requested permission to pull the Rath. Mr Ansar Shabandri (Chirkin) granted the permission and inaugurated the ceremony by reciting verses from holy Quran. Speaking on this occasion, he said, this is a 200 year old tradition to celebrate Ter Habba. He also briefly shed light on the history of Bhatkal Ter Habba.

The Ter procession was began from Hanumath temple and after passing through flower market, main road and car street concluded at the Hanumanth temple. Heavy security arrangements were made to maintain peace during this festival.
