Bhatkal tense for sometime after miscreants attack youths

Bhatkal: Situation in Bhatkal became tense yesterday night when few youths were abused and thrashed at Asarikeri area while they were watching a video in a non-Muslim's shop. The situation was brought under control because of prompt action from the police and Tanzeem. Tanzeem has also filed a case demanding arrest of the assailants.
As per inputs, three youths from Asarikeri area, identified as Aadil, Hasan and Nabig were watching a video in a non-Muslim's shop. Angry at this, the opposite group attacked them and started thrashing them. As soon as this news reached others, youths from nearby area started gathering. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, Circle Inspector Beli Ayappa and ASP Sudheer Reddy reached the spot and filed a case agains the assailants. The assaulters were identified as Naveen, Hanumant, Sridhar, Rama, Anant and Ishwar.
Few moments later, three isolated bike riders were attacked in Asarikeri and were beaten with sticks. The victims were identified as Abdul Raheem Shaikh, Mohammed Saood Shaikh, both residents of Chauthani and Mustaqeem Damda, resident of Farooqui Street. In this instance too, the victims reached Bhatkal police station and have registered a case.
However, the situation at present is under control. At various places, police personnel have been deployed. ASP Sudheer Reddy has appealed to the public to keep patience.
