Bhatkal Telephone exchange to migrate to Next Generation Network (NGN)

BHATKAL: BSNL customers in Bhatkal will soon get better quality connectivity with the Exchange migrating to Next Generation Network (NGN) shortly, said N.M. Shaikh, deputy general manager (A &P), CPIC, BSNL, Karwar. Next generation Network (NGN) is a versatile platform for broadband, landline and mobile services. NGN-based telephone exchanges provide both voice as well as broadband facility.
Bhatkal Exchange has come a long way when telephone services was first introduced in 1960 with 20 landlines. OLT (Optical Line Terminating Equipment) has already been installed in Bhatkal exchange. As of 31-12-2016, Bhatkal has a total of 2502 landline connections.
