Bhatkal teams dominate district level football league championship; BIFA beats Bhatkal FC in finals to emerge winners

Bhatkal 28 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Inter Football Association (BIFA) on Sunday won the ‘League Championship-2019’ a district level football tournament organised by Uttara Kannda district football association. BIFA in the final beat another team from Bhatkal (Bhatkal FC) based on players from different teams of Bhatkal on Sunday 27 January here at the Taluka Stadium (YMSA Ground).
Teams from various parts of Uttara Kannada district were divided into two zones and matches were initially played among the group teams followed by two top-ranked teams of the groups qualifying into the semi finals.
Sirsi Marikamba FC, Mundgod FC, Revanth FC Kumta, Haliyal FC and Dandeli FC were placed in Zone A, while BIFA FC, Karwar FC, RUFA Shiroor, MFA Honnavar and Bhatkal FC were placed in Zone B.
In Zone A tMundgod FC and Sirsi Marikamba FC qualified for the semi-finals while BIFA FC and Bhatkal FC qualified from Zone B.
After semifinals between BIFA VS Sirsi Marikamba and Bhatkal FC vs Mundgod FC, BIFA and Bhatkal FC entered the finals.
In the final match BIFA emerged winners by Bhatkal FC with a scoreline reading 1-0.
The winning team was awarded with Cash prize of Rs.10,000, medals and a rolling shield while the runner-up team received Rs. 5,000 cash prize.
Abdul Mueed of BIFA was awarded the best striker of the tournament, Mifzal Shabandri of BIFA was awardedbest goal keeper, Jasir of Bhatkal FC was awarded Best play maker of the tournament.
During the closing ceremony Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Vice President Inayathullah Shabandri, General Secretary Altaf Kharuri, UKDFA President Aheed Mohtesham, General Secretary Mawia Mohtesham, Sirsi Marikamba FC President Amit Netrekar, Mundgod FC President Vikram Patil and others were present on dias and congratulated the participating teams and players.
Special recognition was also awared to the BIFA U-14 team on securing second place at All India football tournament held at lathur Maharashtra
