Bhatkallys News Bureau/ I. Zaorez Shabab Bhatkal 15 Nov 2017: The dispute to shift the Jali Patan Panchayath office from its current location has been finally resolved as the general body on Wednesday resolved to shift the Jali Patan Panchayath office to the Jali School campus amidst the exchange of few bitter words between two parties mainly advocating two different plots for the new office building. The two parties mainly involved into the verbal scuffle over the last few months for Shifting the Jali Patan Panchayath office are that one backed by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, and the other allegedly backed by local MLA Mankal Vaidya. Tanzeem backed councilors led by Advocate Imran Lanka were trying hard to build the new Patan Panchayath office somewhere near by National Highway 66 and had proposed two plots for sanctioning. The MLA backed councilors argued for either to reconstruct the existing office building or to shift it to a nearby school campus only 500 mtrs away from current office. In the midst of the arguments today, Nagraj Naik warned against shifting the office from Jali limits and threatened of repeating what was done 10 years ago when the then General body planned to shift the Panchayath office, indicating to the violence and protests staged by the locals of Jali. This resulted in a face-off and verbal scuffle between the two parties for almost fifteen minutes the proceeding of the meeting was halted. Watch the Video here: https://youtu.be/Q-zWfU7k_lE   Following the arguments, a voting process was conducted wherein the MLA backed councilors won the poll with 8 votes to shift Panchayath office in school campus against 7 votes of Muslim candidates. The 8 votes consisted that one vote of Reshma Sardar, a Tanzeem backed councilor who voted against the will of her co-councilors which proved to be the deciding factor of the game. Another Muslim councilor Fathima Mehboob didn't attend the meeting, had she been present and voted in favor of Muslim candidates it would have led to Abdul Rahim Shaikh to declare the final verdict. Earlier in the day a new standing committee of Jali Patan Panchayath was formed by President Abdul Rahim Shaikh. Abdul Rahim named Mangala Gonda, Shobha Shridhar Naik, Geeta Jain, Shridhar Naik, Aftab Damudi, Adam Panambur, Reshma Sardar, Nagaraj Naik, Purendra, Ganpayya, and Bilal Qamri in the new standing committee. The chairman for the committee will be elected on 23 Nov 2017. Imran Lanka who was first named in the committee by Abdul Rahim Shaikh, took back his name from the committee and requested replace him with Aftab Damudi or Shameem Banu.
