Bhatkal student secures second prize in essay contest on Prophet in Oman

MUSCAT (Bhatkallys News): It was a pride moment for Bhatkal community in Oman as its daughter brought laurels by winning second prize in the All-Oman essay contest held here. Maryam Aftab Kola, a seventh grade student of Indian School Muscat, obtained second prize under the Muslims (under 21) category at the essay contest organised by The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, Diwan of Royal Court, government of Oman. The topic was, ‘Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) – his life as a husband and a father’. His Excellency Said bin Nasser Al Maskary, member of State Council (Majlis Al Dawla) gave away the prizes at a ceremony held at the main lecture hall of Sultan Qaboos Grand mosque here. The price includes a gift with cash of 200 Omani Riyals.
This is the second edition of essay contest held in which large number of Muslims and non-Muslims took part. The idea for starting this essay contest on Prophet (peace be upon him) was given to Oman’s Diwan of Royal Court by Moulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi Academy, Bhatkal in 2012.
