Bhatkal: 'Stop politics over Cow' Santhosh Hegde at Journalism day event

Bhatkal 09 July 2017: Bhatkal Taluka working Journalists association organized an event today to mark the Journalists day in the town at Nagayaksha Hall here in Bhatkal, wherein Retd. Supreme court Judge and former Lokayukta of the State Santosh Hegde was present as the chief guest of the event.
Speaking at the event, Santhosh Hegde spoke in length about the current political scenario of the nation, and urged the Government to take over the politics over cow, which has now led to several attacks and deaths by cow vigilantes over the people belonging to the minorities communities.
He further stressed on the issue of innocent youngsters being languished in jails and after years of trials they eventually are set free by the courts as ‘Innocents’, resulting in wastage of their prime years and making their life miserable in the society and family where survival becomes an herculean task for the victims. He urged the police department to thoroughly investigate the cases before proceeding towards charging and arresting people.
Chief Editor of Karavali daily news paper Gangadhar, G U Bhat and other guests also addressed the event and stressed the Journalists to be loyal to the duties of the profession, and always wok while being within the ethics of Journalism and refrain from getting involved with any malpractices while delivering their duties. MLA Mankal Vaidya urged youth to get in the field of Journalism and serve the country and community.
