Bhatkal 17 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) After over 45 days since the schools were reopened for the academic year 2018-19, the state government has failed to distribute textbooks to the schools, mainly those of languages like Kannada and Urdu. Upon inquiring it turned out to be the case with almost all the schools across the state, and the government has had difficulties with printings of the books of First Language Urdu and Third Language Kannada in majority of the schools including in private and government schools of Bhatkal. One of the teacher at a private school in Bhatkal informed Bhatkallys.com that the teachers are using the books of previous year for the teaching purposes while the students are yet to receive their books which has made the academics of both students and teachers miserable. When Bhatkallys.com contacted the regional Block Education Officer's (BEO) office, the in-charge officer of books distribution Shankar, added that the delay was from the government and the BEO office had a little to do into it. Shankar said "Yes, there has been delay in distribution of the books but it is not from our side, it is because the government has not sent us the books which we are suppose to distribute in the local school". When asked about the probable reason behind the delay, Shankar added "It is due to the problem in printings of the books, the problem is not only for Bhatkal but these books haven't been distributed anywhere in the state". He further added "We recently received Kannada books for std X, and those have been distributed to the local schools, as soon as we receive more of it we will distribute it immediately. We cannot say how much more time it will take, again, as soon as we receive it we will distribute it. I have brought these complaints into the notice of my superiors they will hopefully find a solution to it soon". (Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Ismail Zaorez)
