Bhatkal: Social worker writes to CM requesting stay on Waqf office transfer orders from Karwar

Bhatkal 17 May 2017: Social worker Faiyaz Mulla today wrote to Chief Minister Siddarammiah, Tanveer Seth, RV Deshpande, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) demanding a hold on the transfer of Waqf committee office from Karwar.
In an written request Faiyaz claimed that since Karwar is the district headquarter and most of administrative office are located in Karwar people find it easy to get there work done at Waqf Committee office, while shifting office would mean a lot of inconvenience to the people.
Earlier, State Waqf board had issued an order to transfer the District Waqf office from Karwar to Sirsi, leading to protest from several waqf’s presidents and demands of staying the order. The members of Several waqfs had submitted an memorandum to Deputy commissioner. They later went on to Karnataka High Court asking its intervention.
The High Court bench led by Justice PS Dinesh had issued an 2 months’ status quo on the transfer order.
