Bhatkal: SIO submits memorandum to President of India, demands safety for students across India and justice for Najeeb Ahmed

Bhatkal 16 October 2019: Members of Student Islamic Organization of India (SIO), Bhatkal unit submitted a memorandum to the President of India through Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner demanding action against ABVP and to bring back Najeeb, a JNU student who went missing on October 15, 2016. The memorandum was submitted at AC's office here on Tuesday evening. Najeeb, a biotechnology student of JNU, went missing on the night of October 15, 2016, from the university campus after an altercation with Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students during hostel election campaign. The SIO in their memorandum put forth several demands that included to bring back Najeeb and to investigate the ABVP members involved in assaulting Najeeb before his ‘forceful disappearance’ from JNU. Speaking at the event Journalist Ismail Zaorez added that the PM of the country visits his mother every year on his birthday and added that the PM should also be reminded about the mother of Najeeb who has been waiting for her son for the last three years on his birthdays and occasions like Eid. He also demanded that the government should ensure safety of the students across the country adding that the government should come out and take accountability of the incident. Member of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Talha Siddibapa also slammed the government and police department for not finding a student who disappeared from the ‘heart of national capital’ of the country. SIO Bhatkal Unit President, Sanaullah Asadi noted that the Delhi Police recently tracked down the miscreants who snatched the purse of PM Modi’s niece within hours after the incident but failed to track Najeeb Ahmed even after three years. The memorandum also urged the President assure that the justice will be done as early as possible and also to provide safety in universities across the nation for the students. On this occasion SIO Bhatkal President Sanaullah Asadi, Secretary Shuaib SM, Muhammad Talha Siddibapa, Mohammed Talish, and others were present.
