Bhatkal SIO sends Rs 3.50 lac relief fund for Kerala flood victims

Bhatkal 1 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Bhatkal unit on Saturday sent relief funds of Rs. 3.50 lac for the Kerala relief funds, through bank transfer from its headquarters. The volunteers of SIO Bhatkal unit organised a funds collection drives in three parts for last two weeks and collected funds amounting to 3,49,650 and transferred it to its headquarters from where it will go for the relief and rehabilitation work in Kerala. The organisation is leading the drive of collecting relief funds from across the country through its regional units to help the flood affected state of Kerala which has been hit with the second worst flood of the century in the country, wherein over 370 people have been killed and over three lac people are displace and are in the relief camps with several organisations, NGOs and government aiding the relief camps. Earlier, the organisation had collected Rs. 1.50 lac in a single day by deploying its volunteers in Sunday market. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com SIO Bhatkal secretary added "We appreciate the kind of support our volunteers received from the people wherever we led our collection drives, we have sent the aid of 3.50 lac Rupees today, we hope Almighty Allah ease the sufferings of the people of Kerala". Other organisations like JCI and Al Wafa Murdeshwar had also sent their relief aids, while the local socio-political organisation Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem is also organising collection drives during Friday prayers and has also deployed volunteers to collect funds by door-to-door visits.
