Bhatkal: SDPI demands action against forest officials for torturing youth, submits memorandum

Bhatkal 28 March 2019:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) Members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Assistant commissioner office urging strict actions against forest officials who allegedly tortured youngsters from Bhatkal in custody after registering fake case against them. In the memorandum the party added that, a man from Bhatkal, Ummair Saeed, while returning from Koppa village of the Taluka after picnicking was allegedly arrested by the forest officials on a fake case (hunting animals) and was tortured by the officials in their custody. The memorandum further stated that “Pointing a revolver on his forehead he was threatened for life, which could have resulted in loss of life as well” “The Taluka Government Hospital doctors also gave a false report that he was medically fit, when he was not even in a position to walk” the memorandum further added. The Memorandum urged the District Commissioner to take strict action against the forest officials and also the Government hospital officials for issuing a false medical report of a person who was in custody.
