Bhatkal Rotary Club submits memorandum against cutting of trees

Bhatkal - 24 March 2011: Bhatkal Rotary Club submitted memorandum to Assistant Commissioner and Forest department against cutting of trees alongside NH-17 and demanded immediate halt to this activity. Speaking on this occasion Rotary Club President, Mr S M Khan said that the existence of trees help in averting accidents and cutting these trees will affect environment.
However, according to the sources general public is in favour of cutting of trees. It may be noted that, Bhatkal Electricity department is cutting all the big trees alongside NH-17 to protect transmission lines which will get damaged especially during rainy season when any branch of tree falls on it.
On this occasion Rotary Club President Mr S M Khan, Advocate Nagraj, Mr Nazeer Kasimji and others were present.
