Bhatkal 30 June 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal revenue department is all set to convert a seized house into its office here at Hurlisal locality in Bhatkal. The house belonging to Shammas Kobbatte was seized earlier this year allegedly because it was built on revenue land. The under construction house will now serve as the office of revenue department and a sign board for the same has already been attached to the building. A notification that was attached earlier to the building by Tahsildar reads "The place belongs to the Government of Karnataka and any trespassers will be prosecuted by the law" Owner Shammas Kobatte has since been doing the rounds of Assistant Commissioner's and Tahsildar's office pleading that he had bought the land over two decades ago and that he built the house by spending all his savings of lifetime, but his pleas and requests are doing him no favor as no official is committing him of any help in this regard. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Shammas added "I spent all my savings to built this home for my family, but the department sealed it, I agreed initially and did not proceed with further construction with an hope that the government will come out with an appropriate solution for people like us. But now the revenue department will convert it into their office which is not fair, nobody has answers to my requests and pleas" he added. No official from Assistant Commissioner's office or Tahsildar's office was available to comment on the issue when tried to contact. (Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Ismail Zaorez)
