Bhatkal Public Chabutra case: Five Muslim youth booked, families cry foul play by the police

Bhatkal 25 Oct 2017: A few Auto-drivers allegedly assaulted Muslim youth to forcefully try to close down a vendor shop near public Chabutra in Bhatkal, which was in place for more than 25 years has led to two police complaints against both parties. The police booked five Muslim men for rioting and several other sections of IPC, and registered a counter-complaint against the Auto-Drivers Venkatesh Naik and Ganapathy.
Ain ul Haq, who first filed a complaint against Venkatesh Naik for assaulting him and taking law into his hands to displace a vendor shop from Public Chabutra was charged along with his friends Muhammed Madani, Adil Abdul, Aseem Mohammed and Akeeb under IPC sections 143, 147, 323, 341, 504, 506 read with IPC section 149.
Only two members of the other party Venkatesh Naik and Ganapathy were charged under IPC section 143, 147, 427, 506 read with IPC 149.
The residents have voiced their disagreement towards the charges and have claimed it to be the double standards by the police department wherein they claim the victims have been booked with serious offences than the attackers. And have called for an strong legal battle against this act of the department.
Family members of the victim Ain-ul Haq, cries foul play by the police in the said issue and their plea is not being heard after he being the victim of the whole issue.
