Bhatkal police in action against helmet rule violators

January 19, 2016 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Use of helmets for motorcyclists in Bhatkal has been made mandatory from Monday as the deadline set by authorities has come to an end. Bhatkal police has started initiating action against those who fail to comply with the helmet rule. According to sources, Bhatkal police has slapped cases on 400 persons on Monday for violating the helmet rule. A little compliance of the law was reported on Tuesday as motor bike riders were witnessed wearing helmets on roads. The new rule was to be implemented from Jan 12, but traffic authorities gave grace period of one week to riders to buy helmets. - ARF
