Bhatkal police department reprimands Auto-drivers' union officials; ask them to be disciplined and public friendly

Bhatkal 3 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Police Department on Sunday organized a meeting with officials of Bhatkal Merchant Association and Auto-Drivers' Union in a bid to curb the traffic congestion in down town. CPI Ganesh Shankar spoke at the meeting and the parties shared the ideas of curbing traffic congestion on Main road (mainly between Old bus stand to flower market), it was also proposed to implement one-way parking once again in organized manner and by fining those violating the law. Addressing the auto-drivers' union officials CPI Shankar, asked them to be disciplined and public friendly and to co-operate with the police in curbing the traffic congestion in the main road area especially during the peak hours. Shankar further urged the union officials in maintaining badge numbers with proper implementation and to maintain records of the drivers in an organized way. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com the newly elected President of Auto-Driver's union Krishna Asarkeri, said "The police department has requested us to co-operate with the them to resolve the traffic issue, we have assured them of doing our bit in working towards better traffic management in town". He further added that more such meetings will be organized between Merchant Association, Auto-Drivers' Union and police department in coming days and the decision about one-way parking and others will be implemented. The Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D'Souza while speaking to Bhatkallys.com had expressed his concern over the traffic management of Bhatkal and had also hoped that such meeting would help in resolving the issue and had directed CPI Ganesh Shankar to organize the meeting.
