Bhatkal: Police department calls for peaceful celebrations during Eid-ul-Fitr

Bhatkal 13 June 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Police on Wednesday called a peace meeting with the heads of several organizations in the wake of Eid-ul-Fitr which will be celebrated by Muslims on Friday or Saturday (depending on the sighting of crescent moon), the meeting was organized at the circuit house of Bhatkal in the presence of Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner and Tahsildar.
The meeting was attended by members, representatives and heads of several local organizations including Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Auto-Drivers union among others.
Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D'Souza while addressing the meeting lauded the efforts and co-operation from the locals residents of Bhatkal in conducting the assembly elections peacefully earlier this month. He also added the Additional Director General of Police, Director General of Police and Karwar Superintendent of Police have also congratulated the locals for it and have especially asked him to convey their message during the meeting.
He further added, "Bhatkal is a peaceful town, and the best example is the recently held elections when everybody was curious to know how the police will manage law and order here during elections, we have with the co-operation of locals stunned everyone, and everyone is happy for, similarly we are also expecting different communities to co-operate with one another is allowing Muslims to celebrate Eid peacefully thereby maintaining law and order in the region.
Bhatkal Tahsildar VP Kothralli, also had words of praise for the residents of Bhatkal and added that all the hype regarding Bhatkal linking it with extremism is rubbish and that he was surprised to see people of different religions and communities living peacefully, against his expectations which was impacted by what he had heard about the town.
Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ahmed Mulla, also requested people to maintain law and order and not to pay heed to any rumors especially on social media and in case of any suspicion asked them to contact the local police department.
Members of several communities and religion present during the meeting also assured the police department of co-operating with them and contributing towards peaceful celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr, while also raising questions of traffic regulations, power cuts during Ramadan and others to which the Assistant commissioner and police department assured of timely solution.
