Bhatkal police books four for alleged dowry harrasment

Bhatkal 26 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal town police on Monday booked case against four of a family for allegedly harassing a woman demanding dowry at her husband’s place here at Shiroor.
As per the Sources, Maimuna Mahtab, a 20-year-old woman got married to Mohammed Yaseen Sab in November 2017, and Rs. 1 lac was given to the groom as dowry during her marriage.
However, Maimoona in her complaint claimed that, just after one month of her marriage her in-laws including her mother-in-law Bibi Hajeera Sab, Sabeeya Hajeej, Madiya Hajeej started to ill treat her and further demanded dowry of rupees 2 lac and gold weighing 10 tola.
She further stated in her complaint that her in-laws used to physically hurt her by beating with the stick and also tortured her by not feeding her for days, and finally sent her out of the house giving death threat on 21 September, to bring the cash as her in-laws wanted to purchase a land.
Frustrated with the behavior Maimoona on Tuesday registered a complaint at Bhatkal town police station against her husband and three others.
