Bhatkal: Peace meeting called ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

Bhatkal 19Aug 2017:Ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival that is to be celebrated on August 25 2017, a peace meeting was called with local leaders and public of both Muslim and Hindu coomunities at IB on Saturday.
Addl. SP Goyal while interacting with locals urged People to refrain from celebrating the festival in a way that could lead to disturbing or hurting the religious sentiments or individual feeling of other communities which can result in communal tensions and law and order situations. He further requested locals to co-operate with the authorities in maintaining the peace in the region during the festive season.
Goyal also spoke about the safety and precautionary measures that is to be taken especially while disbursing the Ganesh idols in the sea and advised only expert swimmers to get into water to disburse the idols.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) reminded people of Karnataka High court’s order which banned the disbursing of idols made of POP into the sea, and instructed to avoid such idols.
Altaf Kharuri, Gen. Secy. Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, TMC president Sadiq Matta, and Shreedhar Naik also addressed the meeting. CPI Suresh Nayak, DY. SP Shiv Kumar, TMC vice president Ashfaq KM and others were also present at the meeting.
