Bhatkal: Peace meeting ahead of Ganesh Chaturti held

Bhatkal 28 August 2019: Ahead of Ganesh Chaturti, Bhatkal Town police on Tuesday organised a peace meet with the heads of various associations and community leaders here at IB of Bhatkal.
Addressing the gathering, AC Sajjid Mulla said, "Festivals are the symbols of Civilization, and we need to pay mutual respect to all the festivals of various community. The festival of Ganesh Chaturti has a history since the freedom struggle of Indian Independence"
Speaking on the event, DySP Valentine D'souza added, "There is no scope for miscreants for disturbing religious harmony during the celebration. The festival has to be celebrated peacefully"
The Ganesh Chaturthi will be, however celebrated on Monday 2nd September.
Tahsildar VP Kotralli, PSI Kusumadhar, Auto Drivers Association, Executive members of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem and others were present during the meeting.
