Bhatkal: Parents stage protest in New Shams School against Rubella Vaccinations; Students claims themselves to be 'Completely Fit and Fine'

Bhatkallys News Service/ I Zaorez Shabab Bhatkal 19 February 2017: Parent of the students of Shams English Medium school Bhatkal today staged protest against the Vaccinations given to their pupils even after they denied their consent for it, And blamed the management for their ‘Irresponsible attitude’ wherein they went against the consent of the parents and forcefully gave them vaccination. The Govt. of India had recently started a new campaign to eradicated Rubella by giving vaccinations to the students of all schools across the country. The School management had issued a consent form to the parents a week ago and had instructed them to tick ‘Yes or No’ on the form for the vaccination for their respective pupils. However most of the parents today claimed that they were against the vaccination and had ticked on NO sign of the form. But later on, they alleged that their kids were given the vaccinations forcefully and blamed the school teachers of applying force on their kids by dragging them into the medical room for vaccinations. The school management however refused the allegations of ‘Dragging’ any kids in to Medical room. Tahsildar and police officials also reached the school to convince people about the vaccination and that it was for the good of the students that the Govt. had initiated the campaign. But the parents never looked satisfied with the answers and explanations by the officials and the management. The school management while speaking to the media admitted that the school had received strict instructions from the Tahsildar of the town a few days back that they had to give vaccinations to the all the students of school. Asked the refusal for their denial of consent, a few parents claimed that the viral messages on social media against the vaccination had caused them to go against it and it was their reason for denial of consent. Parents also used unethical languages in verbally abusing the school teachers and the medical staff hired by the Govt. which also included an Muslim lady doctor, and also threatened run an rampage in the school premise and damaging the school properties. An immediate management meeting was called to discuss the issue which also included police officials and members of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem. The meeting concluded at around 4.00 pm and they parents were sent back by assuring them that a Board meeting will be called later in the evening and that parents will be called back by tomorrow or Day after. The parents had demanded an apology from the management and also asked them to claim the responsibility of any bad or medical consequences are faced by the students. Bhatkallys.com also tried to speak to a few students later in the evening wherein the students claimed themselves to ‘Completely fit’ after taking the vaccinations and didn’t complain about any health issues. The Parents however had reached the campus with their kids claiming that the pupils were complaining of several medical issues. It is to be noted that Bhatkal Tahsildar had called a meeting of School managements and had asked them to compulsorily give vaccinations to all the students, he had further warned of initiating legal actions against those who were found to be spreading rumors about the vaccinations.
