Bhatkal: 22 August 2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A social media post by Heble Panchayat member Syed Ali has forced authorities to act on the poor condition of the Tenginagundi Cross road, where stagnant rainwater had been troubling commuters for days.
On Tuesday night, Ali recorded a video showing vehicles struggling to pass through the flooded stretch and uploaded it online. Tagging the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office and the Public Works Department (PWD), he demanded immediate intervention.
“While returning from Haneefabad, I saw the entire stretch under water. Vehicles were struggling to move. I decided to report it through social media so that higher officials would take notice,” Ali later said.
The post quickly drew a response, with engineers from the PWD, municipal staff, and officials from the Karwar Deputy Commissioner’s office visiting the spot for inspection.
By the same evening, the Office of the Special Duty Officer (OSD) attached to the Chief Minister’s Office acknowledged the complaint and marked it as “noted.” Karwar authorities also contacted Ali, assuring that necessary measures would be taken to address the problem.
