Bhatkal 10 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Police Department after taking into confidence the Bhatkal Merchant Association and Auto-Driver's Union has implemented one way traffic parking on Bhatkal main road, here from Monday 9 July. Police officials including CPI Ganesh under the guidance of Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D' Souza, earlier organized meetings with Merchant Association officials and Auto-Drivers Union and shared ideas on resolving the traffic congestion issue on main road especially during peek hours. During the meeting it was proposed that one way parking system be implemented once again in the town, as earlier it was experimental in bringing down traffic congestion, but was later discontinued due to irregularities and owing to non supervision of the department. The Police Department however looks resolute in implementing the system once again and maintaining it completely. Currently, PSI Basavaraj is leading the charge of implementing the system and is leaving no stone unturned in creating awareness among people about the system. He has deployed an unusual number of police constables on the main road who are monitoring the parking of two and four wheeler vehicles on main road while PSI Basavaraj himself is patrolling the area every half an hour to monitor parking. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Valentine D'Souza informed that this is one of the many measure the police department is planning to take to control the traffic flow and congestion. "Among our other plans is making sure no underage person or student should ride or drive vehicles, we will also organize awareness programs about road safety as well as how to drive safely without effecting/interrupting others especially the senior citizens, only then we will implement our plans and will start initiating actions against traffic rules offender", D'Souza added.
