Bhatkal: One killed, five injured in a road accident near Ranginkatte

Bhatkal 11 November 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Yet another road accident in Bhatkal claimed another life and injured five others when a car crashed into two auto-rickshaws, killing one woman and injuring five others. The accident took place near Bhatkal JMFC court at Ranginkatte early morning on Sunday November 11.
The deceased has been identified as Madevi Suresh Naik (40), resident of Shirali. While the injured victims have been identified as Auto driver Nagesh Naik (50) of Tengingunddi, aother auto driver Chandru Naik (33) of Muttali, Bhaskar Naik (50) of Shirali, Ratnamma (22) and Kavya(21) both are resident of Whitefield of Bengaluru.
According to the eye witnesses, around 6:45am a rickshaw which was heading towards Bhatkal from Tengingundi was trying to over take another auto which was heading towards Sunday market of Bhatkal from Shirali carrying a woman when the car coming from the opposite direction tried to avoid collision with the autos but unfortunately rammed into both the Autos.
The locals soon rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to hospitals at Udupi and Manipal. However, Auto passenger Mahadevi of Shirali succumbed to her injuries while on her the way towards Manipal.
The car was reportedly heading towards Murdeshwar from Whitefield of Bengaluru.
As the people observed gas leakage from the auto, Fire brigade rushed to the spot and cleared the scene.
The vehicles were later moved off the road to avoid traffic jam by the locals.
A case has been registered at Bhatkaltown police station.
