Bhatkal: Old 'shaky' Venkatapur bridge finally closed as IRB opens new bridge for heavy traffic

Bhatkal 11 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) IRB Infrastructure Developers on Tuesday opened the newly constructed bridge of Venkatapur for heavy vehicles and traffic, and diverted all the heavy vehicles from the old bridge. The traffic has now been diverted from Ice-factory cross to a newly constructed road which leads to the new bridge, while two wheeler and three wheeler are allowed to commute through old road as the road connects from different localities of the town. The new bridge is constructed as a part of the National Highway expansion and four-laning throughout the coastal belt. The news also comes as a relief to some of the local social bodies and residents who had raised their concerns and complained that the pillars down the old bridge at Venkatapur was shaky and was dangerous as it can result in deadly mishap if it collapse.
