Bhatkal NRI meets Dr. Arathi Krishna at Bengaluru, demands 'Rehabilitation Package' for gulf returnees

Bhatkallys News Bureau Bhatkal 01 March 2018: Demanding the 'Rehabilitation Package' for laborers and Businessmen, a delegation of about 15 Businessman hailing from Bhatkal, settled in various parts of Saudi Arabia met Dr Arathi Krishna, Deputy Chairperson of Non Resident Indian Forum, Karnataka at Bengaluru on Monday, 27 February. The delegation put forth their demand on providing separate area to set up industries, townships for NRI Kannadigas and tax incentives for the period of 10years to the citizens who are about to loose their jobs and return to their hometown upon following the order by Saudi Arabia's Government which will be implemented in September. "The Indian Government must take swift imitative and extend help for the Kannadigas especially to the citizens of coastal belt to carry on their livelihood. Since the Saudi Govenment has revised Nitaqat Scheme that will affect laborers who are employed in about 12 sectors. Saudi Government has announced September 30 as the last date for the laborers to leave the country.", quoted Younus kazia, prominent Businessman from Bhatkal, settled in Dammam of K.S.A Dr Arathi Krishna had recently visited KSA and held talks with about 5,000 labourers from Karnataka by attending the camps held in Jeddah and Riyadh. She said that they are planning to come up with a new formula or would adopt the Kerala Model. But the immediate action may not be possible at the earliest since the polls are due in few months. She then assured of of making it a point to include it in their manifesto. She further said that, There are about 10 lakhs Indians settled in Saudi Arabia. Amongst which 2-3 lakh are from Karnataka and 75 percent of them belongs to various towns in Coastal Karnataka.
