Bhatkal 7 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The Bhatkal Town Municipality Council (TMC) Bhatkal cleared all the street shops near the National Highway between Shamsuddin circle and Shifa cross of the town here on Sunday.
Though the prior notice was issued to the street vendors, the shops beside the National Highway were not taken off, and the numbers were growing. However, on Sunday the TMC along with the police personnel evacuated all the shops beside the road between Shamsuddin circle and Shifa cross.
The vendors though opposed the eviction drive. But the presence police force made sure they were not allowed to protest it.
The Officials said that “Even after issuing notice regarding this, nobody took the matter seriously. So we were forced to conduct this operation as the vendors beside the highway kept on increasing. We have seized their goods and will be given back to them after paying fine” they added.
TMC President Sadiq Matta, Chief Officer Devraj, Health officer Soojiya Soman and others were present during the eviction drive.
