Bhatkal: New Shams School student becomes national champion at CISCE National Karate Tournament

Bengaluru: 17 September 2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A student of New Shams School, Bhatkal, has secured a gold medal at the CISCE National Level Karate Tournament 2025, held from September 14 to 18 at the Padukone–Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru.

 

Falah M.J, son of Fayaz Ahmed M.J and a Grade IX student, competed in the –50 kg Under-17 Boys Kumite category. He advanced through the tournament by defeating his opponent from Bihar & Jharkhand with a score of 8–0, winning against Maharashtra with the same score of 8–0, and overcoming Kerala in a close match that ended 3–2.

 

Earlier, Falah had also won gold medals at the Zonal Championship in Davangere and the Regional Championship (Karnataka & Goa) in Bengaluru, which qualified him for the national-level event.

 

His training was guided by Amar Shabandari of Amarsha Karate & Fitness Academy, with support from the school’s Physical Education teacher, Shammas, and encouragement from the management of New Shams School.
