Bhatkal: Muharram moon sighted; Tuesday to mark beginning of Islamic New Year

Bhatkal 10 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Qazis on September 10, Monday announced the sighting on Muharram moon, which will mark the beginning of Islamic New Year (1440 Hijri) from Tuesday September 11 in Bhatkal. Muharram is one of the four sacred months of Islam and has its own significance in the religion. Fasting in Muharram is also considered to be virtues  as Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said "The best of fasting after Ramadan is fasting Allah's month of Muharram." [Muslim].
